Concept Board

Before illustrating my poster I went on to Pinterest to search for some inspiration and references for my design. I then sketched out my drawing on Adobe Illustrator.

Design Progress

I first illustrated the Beldam by using pen tool.

Then I illustrated the the realm to the other world and placed it under the Beldam's dress.

Then I illustrated Coraline, the doll and the cat and placed it at the centre of the realm to show that they are crawling into the other world.

I then illustrated mountains and clouds at the background because Coraline's house is located at the forest.

I also added a button shaped as a moon at the background.

Then I used the pen tool to create the movie title and shape tool to create the button as the letter "O" in title.

Animation Gif Progress

I created the gif in Adobe Illustrator and there are 11 frames in total. The animation shows the gradual fading of the Beldam's face into the light, evoking an eerie and sinister presence. As you can see, her hands wielding a needle, thread, and button which is a chilling representation of her sinister intentions to replace Coraline's eyes. As Coraline crawls through the realm towards the other world, the Beldam's smile widens ominously, amplifying the sense of impending danger. Also, the subtle rotation of the moon serves as a haunting reminder of the Beldam's influence.
